Guidelines
Applicants must have the anatomy of a women (a vagina, not uterus)
and live life as a woman to qualify for exhibitions.
Submission Procedure
Artists wishing to propose work for Venus Envy 2008
St.Louis must submit the following:
1. Application Fill out the Application on this form.
To assure an anonymous jurying process the Application is the
only place your name should appear.
2. Support Materials Support materials should consist of
3 recent images (digital images on CD) labeled only with a
number. Digital image requirements: JPEGs only,
3"x3" @300 dpi, 2.3MB or 1024x768 @ 72 dpi, 2.2MB.
An accompanying image list with corresponding numbers
should include the title,date, media and dimensions
of the work pictured.Please do not submit original artwork.
If a SASE is enclosed with the application, support materials
will be returned to artists not selected for Venus Envy 2008 St. Louis.
Venus Envy will retain the application, support materials
and proposal of selected artists for curation and PR purposes.
The information listed on the image sheet will be printed in the
Exhibition Catalog, if catalog is produced.
3. Proposal Please include a 1-page description of the work you
intend to exhibit at Venus Envy St. Louis 2008.
The proposal should include title, media, and dimensions of
the artwork; a statement detailing the concept of the artwork
and a description or sketch of the visual aspects of the finished artwork.
All media will be considered for inclusion.Artists working in 2D media
will have approximately 12 to 15 lineal feet. Artists working in
3 D media will have approximately 300 sq. ft of floor space.
Venus Envy understands that this is a working description and
is subject to moderate alteration. We do, however, request as complete
a description as possible. Any accepted artwork that differs
significantly from the original proposal will not be exhibited.
4. Installation & Curator Artists are responsible for providing
pedestals, hardware and all special installation needs.
Please include an explanation of installation needs in your proposal.
The Exhibition Committee is solely responsible for designating exhibition space.
Artwork will hang at Mad Art Gallery for one month after the show.
5. One page resume or bio To be used for PR and curation purposes only.
The juror will not see this information.
6. Processing fee Each Application must be accompanied by a
$15 processing fee. All sales of artwork will be handled by the Venus Envy.
Venus Envy requires 15% commission from any of the sales of artwork.
7. Shipping/Handling/Delivery Shipping,handling and delivery of artwork to
and from Venus Envy 2008 St. Louis is the artists responsibility.
Artwork must be delivered by March 1st, 2008. Venus Envy does not provide
insurance for artwork. Venus Envy encourages all artists to invest in insurance
for their artwork.
